RainbowRider's Tale - The Pizza Man!

    THE PIZZA MAN by RainbowRider

I ran as fast as I could, dodging growing rain puddles as I went. Thunder boomed in the distance, getting even closer the faster I ran. My heart thumped wildly against my chest and my lungs burned, but I wasn't going to stop running until I got out of the rain.
I could hear the cold, sharp raindrops hitting the hood of my deep purple Aeropostale hoodie. I snuggled deeper into it, shoving my hands deep into the pockets, trying to suck some warmth out of it. But all I managed to do was slow myself down, so I just kept running, not worrying about getting myself any warmer.
Finally, I couldn't stand the rain anymore. My house was still a couple of blocks away and, believe it or not, it was beginning to rain even harder. So, I ducked into a pizza shop called "Slices and Spices", eager for a dry space, some warmth, and maybe even a couple slices of pizza.
The moment I got into the cozy little restaurant I felt right at home. It was a small little place, but it was still really nice. The small tables were scattered all around the building, each one covered in a red tablecloth. There were speakers built into the ceiling that were streaming calm country music (a Taylor Swift song was playing at the moment) and suddenly, I felt like I could stay in this little restaurant FOREVER. I was just about to go up to the counter and order some pizza when I heard a voice behind me.
"It sure is raining out there, isn't it?" The voice said. I turned to face the person who spoke, a chill running down my spine. The voice, I could of sworn I had heard it before. It was dark and menacing, yet strangely calm and welcoming, inviting me into the warm depths of misery, driving me insane...
I shook my head. There was something wrong here. I could feel it in my bones. But yet, I couldn't leave. Not until I had had some nice, warm pizza. No, not yet. I had to stay just a little bit longer.
But then, I saw the face of whom had spoken to me. I saw the face of the voice that I was sure I had heard before.

I watched in horror as the chocolate brown eyes of an old man turned a dark, blood red. His nice, warming smile was now a horrendous grin, his yellowing teeth crooked, sharp, and bloody. And his face, once just a normal face, was deformed; messed up. His skin was so pale it looked white. And he was coming closer...towards me...pulling out a knife...
"Hey kid, are you okay?" a voice, a nice voice, said. I blinked and all of the images of the demented creature left my mind so suddenly it was as if I had been awaken from a dream.
"Huh, what?" I muttered, rubbing my head. Suddenly, I began to panic. There was someone in front of me! But it wasn't the creature. It was the kindly-looking old man, the one who had transformed into the creature. I expected than in any minute now, he would show me that horrendous grin and he would pull out his knife and...but no. His eyes were filled with concern.
"You don't look so good kid," he said. "Why don't you sit down?" And I did. I sat down. The man went back to the counter and started messing around with dough, just as any other guy who worked at a pizza parlor would. He watched me for a minute and then asked, "So, kid, what's your name?"
It took me a minute to reply. What was my name again? I shook my head to clear it. I was going C-R-A-Z-Y.
"Alexis," I replied, regretting it the moment the word came out of my mouth.
"Alexis," the man repeated, rolling the name around in his mouth. "Why don't you tell me your parent's number? I bet they're wondering where you are." And I did. I gave the man my dad's number. He called my parents and, a few minutes later, there was my dad, walking through the door of "Slices and Spices".
The older man was all smiles when my dad came to pick me up. He even gave us a box of free pizza.
Even though the man was so nice, I never forgot that face. And even sometimes now, years later, I'll sit down to have some pizza. And when I do, when I take that first bite, that face will flash into my mind. And it'll say, "It sure is raining out there Alexis, isn't it?"

I liked the story so much I wanted to post it up! All credit to RainbowRider :)
